为促进中国神经科学基础研究的发展和学术交流，鼓励我国在神经科学研究领域的优秀青年科研人员积极向Neuroscience Bulletin投稿，Neuroscience Bulletin编辑部从2013年开始设立“Neuroscience Bulletin优秀论文奖和优秀论文提名奖”，对发表在Neuroscience Bulletin并获得较大下载量和被引用数量的原始研究论文的国内第一作者进行奖励。该奖项每两年评选一次，在中国神经科学学会学术年会上颁发奖状和奖金。2013年优秀论文奖奖金为人民币3000元，优秀论文提名奖奖金为人民币1000元。

获得2013年优秀论文奖的作者龙海霞，其论文题为“The long rather than the short allele of 5-HTTLPR predisposes Han Chinese to anxiety and reduced connectivity between prefrontal cortex and amygdale”，发表在Neuroscience Bulletin 2013年第1期。获得优秀论文提名奖的作者韩颖，其论文题为“Formaldehyde up-regulates TRPV1 through MAPK and PI3K signaling pathways in a rat model of bone cancer pain”，发表在Neuroscience Bulletin 2012年第2期。
